Biography of Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam

Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, popularly known as the Missile Man of India, was one of the most respected scientists and leaders of the country. He was born on 15 October 1931 in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu, into a humble family. Despite financial difficulties, Kalam showed a strong interest in learning and worked hard to support his education.

He completed his schooling in Rameswaram and later studied Aerospace Engineering at the Madras Institute of Technology. Dr. Kalam played a vital role in India’s space and defence programmes. He worked with ISRO and DRDO and was instrumental in the development of ballistic missile technology, including the Agni and Prithvi missiles.

In 2002, Dr. Kalam became the 11th President of India. As President, he inspired millions of young people through his speeches, vision, and humility. He strongly believed that education and innovation were the keys to national development.

Dr. Kalam was also a prolific writer. His famous books include Wings of Fire and Ignited Minds. He passed away on 27 July 2015 while delivering a lecture, leaving behind a legacy of knowledge, discipline, and inspiration.
